Clay
Clay is an interesting art form to play with. When we are
children we play with playdoe and clay. The clay I am talking about is air-dry
modeling clay, modeling clay can be very difficult to work with depending on
the object you happen to be modeling. As
clay dries it gets too hard to work with, so your hands need to be damp
constantly. And it happens to dry out your hands, I suggest that if you are
going to be working with modeling clay that you carry lotion on your person so
that way you can moisturize your hands after each time you use the clay.
Modeling a human or an animal with clay is very difficult to do, especially if
it has tons of small details. When modeling you have to take your time to
create the art piece so that it looks realistic.
This is a large simple block of modeling clay. When using
this clay you can use a piece of wire to cut the piece of clay that you want
off of the block and then you can use the clay on a table or a board so it doesn’t stick to the
table when you are modeling the clay.
As you can see in this picture, the turtle has a lot of
small details. The turtles shell is beautifully cracked apart, and the scales
on his legs and face are perfectly placed and modeled. The clay has been painted
and dried so it will stay like that for a very long time. After a clay piece is
dried it will stay like that until it breaks.
